Claude GAUTHIER

Claude GAUTHIER was born in Lac-Saguay, in the Laurentides, north of Montreal, PQ, Canada. After he had completed his education he moved to Montreal in 1954 where he was involved with music. 

His song "Le Soleil Brillera Demain" won first prize in the CKVL Star Competition, and grand prize for best original musical composition in the 1961 CKAC Canadian records. 

1964:Participated in the Folklore Festival at New York's Carnegie Hall 

1966:Sang at the 1966 Olympia in the compnay of Monique LEYRAC, 

the Jerolas, the Feux follets, Gilles VIGNEAULT, Clemence DesROCHERS and Pauline JULIEN. 

1969:His "Cerfs Volants" record won at the record Festival. 

1972:Participated in song Festival at Spa in Belgium. 

1977: Participated in Francophone song Festival in Strasbourg. 

1984:Participated in an important tour "Trois fois chantera"  with Claude LEVEILLEE and Pierre LETOURNEAU. 

His songs have been interpreted by many including: Renee CLAUDE, Louise FORESTIER, Pauline JULIEN. 

Claude GAUTHIER had made over a dozen records and is also a distinguished comedien in movies and television.  Cf. Quebec Songs from Bolduc to today by Roger CHAMBERLAND and Andre GAULIN, editor Nuit Blanche.
