Dominick GAUTHIER
Born about 1974, from Levis, PQ, Canada. Moguls skier & member of the Canadian ski acrobatics team. At age 2 Dominick GAUTHIER was skiing at Mont Sainte-Anne. At age 12 he entered his first ski acrobatics competition. He was then recruited for the following 2 seasons of Skibec Acrobatique, followed by 2 seasons on the Quebec team, and then the big jump into the National team.
1991: Participated in his first World Cup at Breckenridge, Colorado, USA.1993: Won his first World Cup medal in Blackcomb, Canada.
1994: Injured knee 2 months before he would have competed in the Lillehammer competitions.
1995: To date the highlight of his career was when he won the World Cup in Lillehammer and could finally proclaim that he was the best in the world!
1997: Winner of Men's Moguls Championships.
1998: Two weeks before he was to compete in the Winter Olympics Freestyle Skiing at Nagano, Japan he was ranked third in the World standings. At the same, he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. With his long-time dream of competing at the Olympics at stake, Dominick refused to go under general anesthetic during surgery. Instead, he endured the pain and watched the procedure on a video monitor. Two weeks after the operation he went on to win the gold medal.
1998: Gold medal winner in Men's Moguls Championships at the Jeep National Freestyle Skiing Competition in Nagano, Japan.
1998: Sixth in the World Cup standings.
1999: Men's Silver medal winner at Westroc World Freestyle at Blackcomb, Whistler, BC, Canada for his seventh career World Cup podium.
